Rejection number 200 arrived too fast, just a year and change since rejection number 100. I’ve landed 9 wins in that same span, so not all that bad, especially in a world where the odds are stacked against us writers. Better than my first 100 rejections (only 7 wins in that bunch), and to my credit, I submitted to a much higher percentage of pro markets in the second century, although with but one pro win.
As for the actual rejection, it was for a mythica short, “The Einherja,” featuring the valkyrie Randgrid and Dr. Harold “Hard” Regis as the novice einherja. Yet another form letter, or so it would seem.
“Thank you for submitting “The Einherja” for consideration. I was glad to have the opportunity to read it. Unfortunately, the story isn’t quite what we’re looking for at this time. Thanks again for submitting “The Einherja.” I wish you the best of luck in finding a home for it. All the best,”
And so the next century begins. My goals are to land at least 10 new wins from the next 100 rejections, with at least 3 of those in pro markets. Stay tuned. Time for me to go back to writing.
Keep on writin’
